LAHORE, Nov 12: India could become a healthy market for Pakistani mango and kinno as both fruits are of high quality and taste, says Mr Mahinder Singh, leader of a 16-member delegation of Indian farmers.

The delegation crossed Wagha on Sunday on the invitation of the Farmers Associate Pakistan.

Mahinder said India could become a major market for Pakistan for its horticulture exports.

Other members were of the view that both countries could compliment each other`s efforts for improving agriculture and horticulture products. Interaction between the farming communities of both the countries is a healthy sign and must be followed up.The delegation would also visit Ayub Agriculture Research Institute and the Agriculture University, Faisalabad. It would also go to Multan to visit the Central Cotton Research Institute. The Punjab government would also be hosting the delegates on Nov 16 and 17.

APP adds: Indian farmers appreciated the quality of mango and citrus fruit produced in Pakistan and said both the fruits were in high demand in India.

Mahinder said India was selfsufficient in wheat production and was exporting the same due to high per acre yield which, he added, was 55 maunds per acre in average.

He said farmers in Pakistan could also increase their production by using modern technologies and learning from the experiences of Indian farmers.
