Baba Bulleh Shah was a Punjabi Sufi poet, humanist and philosopher. He lived in the same period as the Sindhi Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai, renowned Punjabi poet Waris Shah and Sachal Sarmast. Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir was also his contemporary. In his Kafi style poetry Bulleh Shah strongly criticizes religious orthodoxy.
