LITTERATEURS AND ARTISTS CAN PLAY A VITAL ROLE 
FOR SOUTH ASIAN PEACE-S. KANG

LUDHIANA, OCTOBER 30, 2009

Litterateurs and artists can play a vital role for ushering in south asian peace. This was stated by an octogenarian writer, S. Gurdit Singh Kang while releasing the latest issue of bi-scriptural quarterly 'Saanjh' which is published in gurmukhi and shahmukhi simultaneously. The magazine carries contributions in the form of articles, poems, stories, interviews and travelogues by writers from different parts of the world. S. Kang while appreciating the efforts being made by the magazine said that such efforts were needed to propagate fraternity, harmony and peace in the region. He also lauded the academy of Punjab in north America (APNA) in making efforts to promote Punjabi culture, arts, heritage and Punjabiat through its website. 

Mr. Partap Singh, Senior Vice-President of HDFC bank, who was present on the occasion, said that the series of articles published in the magazine about Maharaja Ranjit Singh was praiseworthy as it creates awareness about the administrative acumen, cultural fervor and secular patronage of the Maharaja. Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman while explaining about the magazine said that Dr. Manu Sharma Sohal and he from eastern Punjab and Mr. Javed Boota and M. Saleem from west Punjab edit the magazine under the able guidance of Mr. Safir Rammah of APNA. Mr. Gurbhajan Gill, President, Punjabi Sabhiyacharak Akademy said that 'Saanjh' is the only magazine that provides full view of the commonality of culture, language and heritage of five rivers irrespective of the border. Present on the occasion were Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Kulwant Basra, Vishal Khullar and others.
