Shiv Kumar Batalvi's 33rd Death Anniversary

On Saturday, May 06, 2006, Kayanaat Arts Chandigarh organized a program "Peedan Da Paraga" to commemorate 33rd death anniversary of legendary Punjabi poet at Kala Bhavan, Sector 16, Chandigarh.

The program started at 6:30 PM and ended at 9:30 PM and was attended by a large audience. Karamjeet Anmol, a  young TV artist, and singer S D Sharma, who is also a senior staff member of  the  Tribune newspaper and a relative of Shiv Kumar Batalvi, sang Shiv's famous poems  Mainu Tera Shabab Ley Baitha  and Main Udhare Safar Dee Paid Aan, respectively.

 Bishambhar Shambi, a close friend of Shiv about whom it is said that whenever Shiv was unable to render his poem in any Mushiara he used to ask Shambi to sing for him, reproduced the true voice of Shiv with same feelings and gestures.  Govardhan Gabbi sang a favorite poem of Shiv Shikar Dopeher Sir Te Mera Dhal Chalia Purchanwan.

Sh. Mohan Bhandari, Bhushan Dhyan Puri, Artist Shiv Singh, Artist Malkeet Singh, KedarNath Kedar, Prof. Raj Pal, Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, N S Rattan and chief guest Vijay Tandoon (Punjabi film hero)
spoke about Shiv. They all shared their sweet memories of Shiv Batalvi.

The other honored guests among the audience were Gul Chauhan, Pannu Kashmir, Dr. Labh Kheeva, Dr. Swraj Sandhu, Kana Singh, Prof. Kulwant Amar Giri, Shavidar Mahil (Punjabi film and TV artist) and many more. B.N Sharma( film actor) and Dr. J S Dhaliwal (Editor Chetna Shakti) were present.

The program was successfully anchored by Govardhan Gabbi.
