APNA: Remembering Munir Niazi
Academy of the Punjab in North America and Pakistani writers and journalists residing in Washington metropolitan area held a meeting on January 2, 2007 at Abshaar restaurant, Springfield, Virginia in remembrance of renowned poet Munir Niazi who passed away on Tuesday, December 26 in Lahore
The meeting was presided by Akmal Aleemi of Voice of America. A number of writers and journalists, including Akmal Aleemi, Khalid Hassan, Manzur Ejaz, Abida Waqar, Mowahid Hussain, Shakeel Ahmad, Safir Rammah and others paid rich tributes to Munir Naizi. Khalid Hassan read an article that he had recently written on Munir. Abida Waqar, who had interviewed Munir Niazi over the phone a few weeks ago shared some important segments of the interview that she had recorded on an audio tape.
